Michigan Meth Crackdown

The selling and manufacturing of methamphetamines is a big problem in West Michigan. Raids are performed monthly and even weekly in some counties. Now a new law is looking to crack down.
The highly addictive and potentially deadly drug is mass produced in rural areas of Michigan. It's a crystallized powder people snort, smoke, inject, even eat it to get a rush. Michigan State Senator Patty Birkholz introduced a law Yesterday. It's aimed at putting meth on the same criminal level as cocaine and heroin.

The law would place stricter and more stringent standards for those using, delivering or manufacturing the drug. In 2002, 57-meth labs were raided in the state of Michigan. Close to 85% of those were in West Michigan. If you suspect a meth lab is in your neighborhood, call the Michigan Meth hotline at 1-866-METH-TIP.
